Peaks to Plains Train, Jefferson County, CO, PDB
The project included the construction of a multi-use trail between the I-70 (west of Denver) and an active river in Clear Creek Canyon. The project challenges included historical walls that needed to be protected, and construction access was extremely limited. The trail was constructed through difficult, steep rock excavation, working around historical walls, risky drilling into fractured rock, and transportation of materials through means of shuttling with small equipment along the river’s edge.
ICE Teams provided independent cost estimating services. We verified quantities, provided production-based cost estimates, reviewed the contractor’s schedule, and worked with them to optimize the construction duration, we were heavily involved in task force workshops, and we helped identify and mitigate project risks. We worked with the team to develop innovations for material delivery and existing retaining wall protection.
